The artwork

A mind under construction.

There's a network in your head that never quite clocks off. The default mode network is what hums along when you're not focused on anything in particular: narrating, replaying, rehearsing. Useful in small doses. Left to its own devices, it's the machinery of the 2am spiral.

Feed it, and it gets louder. An overactive default mode network is one of the fingerprints of rumination and low mood, the mind wearing the same grooves deeper. So the sign is a joke with a real idea underneath it: you don't have to keep feeding the loop.

It's also where the science is looking. Psilocybin appears to quiet the default mode network and loosen those grooves, which is part of why it's being studied for depression. A mind under construction, in the best sense. Made to order, and 10% of every sale funds that research.
