This policy explains what personal information Stem & Cap collects, why, and what rights you have over it. We keep this short and honest.

Who we are

Stem & Cap (a trading name of Aftermind Labs Ltd, a company registered in England & Wales — company no. 17074485) is the "data controller" for the information described here. You can reach us at hello@stemandcap.co or 28 City Road, London, EC1V 2NX.

What we collect

• Order & contact details — name, email, delivery and billing address, phone (if given), and what you bought.
• Payment information — handled by our payment provider (Shopify Payments); we do not store full card numbers.
• Account details — if you create an account, your login and saved preferences.
• Marketing — your email address if you join Field Notes (our newsletter).
• Usage & device data — cookies, IP address, pages viewed and similar analytics (see our Cookie Policy).
• Messages — anything you send us by email or contact form.

How we use it, and our legal basis

• To fulfil your order — process payment, make and ship your items, handle returns and support. (Legal basis: performance of a contract.)
• To run and improve the shop — security, analytics, preventing fraud. (Legitimate interests.)
• To send marketing — only if you opt in; you can unsubscribe any time. (Consent.)
• To meet legal duties — tax, accounting and consumer-law records. (Legal obligation.)

Who we share it with

We never sell your data. We share it only with the service providers that help us run the shop, and only as needed:

• Shopify — our store platform and hosting.
• Shopify Payments — to take payment securely.
• Gelato — our print-on-demand partner, to produce and ship your order (they receive your name and delivery address).
• Etsy — if you order through our Etsy shop, your data is also handled under Etsy's own privacy policy.
• [email/newsletter provider — to confirm] — to send Field Notes, if you've subscribed.
• Shopify's built-in analytics — to understand site usage.
• Authorities — where we're legally required to.

International transfers

Because Gelato prints locally around the world and some providers are based outside the UK/EU, your data may be transferred abroad. Where it is, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as UK/EU-approved standard contractual clauses).

How long we keep it

We keep order records for as long as needed to fulfil the order and meet legal/tax requirements (typically 6 years for financial records). Marketing data is kept until you unsubscribe.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask us to: access a copy of your data; correct it; delete it; restrict or object to its use; or port it elsewhere. To exercise any of these, email hello@stemandcap.co. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

Children

Our shop is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.

Changes

We may update this policy; the "last updated" date above shows when. Material changes will be posted here.
